In much of North America, October is associated with the color orange. Pumpkins ripen, leaves turn every shade on the orange spectrum, and Trick-or-Treaters carry orange boxes collecting coins for UNICEF. But wait…this year’s Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF collection boxes are, well, white.

That’s because you get to create your own! And not only for your own use, but to enter in the Create a Character contest. Design your own devil, dog, vampire or villain, take a photo of your creation and upload it to the contest site. Three winning designs will be used on the limited-edition 2013 Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF collection boxes.

Put some extra effort into your decoration and you may just earn some extra donations. This year’s funds collected by Kiwanis-family clubs go directly to The Eliminate Project. So those coins you collect—which added up to more than US$600,000 last year—will save and protect mothers and babies from tetanus. Let’s beat last year’s total and save or protect more lives this year!
