Co-sponsoring a Builders Club
Involving high school and university students
Junior high or middle school students often look to high school and university students as role models. The impact of a role model is magnified when the high school or university students share many of the same interests and values as the younger, impressionable youth. The development of this relationship into a continuing, positive mentorship is a likely outcome when a Key Club member or Circle K International member establishes an ongoing relationship with a Builders Club. The relationship can develop in several ways.
Co-sponsorship
If you are ready to make a meaningful, lifelong impact, co-sponsor a new Builders Club in a local middle school or junior high. A Key Club or CKI club can register with Kiwanis International as a co-sponsor along with the sponsoring Kiwanis club. By being a co-sponsor, the Key Club or CKI club establishes the right and responsibly to fulfill the obligations of sponsorship, along with the Kiwanis club.
One-time project ideas:
- In November, celebrate Kiwanis family month by coordinating a project with a Builders Club.
- Assist with the Builders Club’s training of officers.
- Plan something fun for the youth, like a holiday party.
- Serve the Builders Club members by providing tutoring services.
Key Club one-time project ideas:
- Develop a joint fundraising project for a Service Partner—UNICEF or March for Dimes.
- Recruit future Key Clubbers with a freshmen orientation.
- Talk to your advisor about inviting Builders Clubs to attend Key Club district events.
CKI one-time project ideas:
- Participate in a March for Babies event with a Builders Club.
- Offer college tours to the youth members.
