Builders Club is an international service organization that develops leadership skills in junior high and middle school students (generally ages 12-14) just like you who are interested in making a personal contribution to their home, school, and community. The first Builders Club was formed in 1975 and was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Ashland, Kentucky.
Each club selects its own service projects and reaches out to the community through its efforts. Virtually any need is a potential target for a Builders Club to tackle. Here are some ideas of service projects your club may want to try:
-
Assisting in the maintenance of school grounds, community parks, and greenways.
-
Recycling aluminum cans and glass jars.
-
Planting trees and flowers.
-
“Adopting” nursing home residents.
-
Distributing anti-littering stickers.
-
Providing yard maintenance for senior citizens.
-
Distributing food baskets during the holidays to families in need.
